The plan as it currently stands
Subject to change, of course. We only have a flight to Hong Kong booked. From there, we can make it up as we go. But this is what's loosely in our heads at the moment...

That is to say, from Hong Kong we head north into China proper then west, to Yunnan province in the south west of the country, then north into Sichuan, home of spicy Chinese food. Then along the Yangtze river east to Shanghai, then over to Japan (mode of transport yet to be decided but I'd love to get the ferry - how mad would that be. But it's a 36-hour crossing and Faye gets pretty bad seasickness. Hm). Not long in Japan as it costs the earth just to get by there apparently, then back into northern China to see Beijing, the Great Wall and the Terracotta Army. Then northwards into Mongolia for some crazy horse treks across the steppes, then back south, through Tibet (maybe!) and into Nepal for some Himalayan heights and hikes, then into India, our last stop before home.
So that's the romantic, all-overland version of the plan. It will no doubt change plenty, but then that's the beauty of it eh?
